I love children’s bedrooms, play spaces & living areas. I think they should be vibrant and reflect design to inspire their creativity.
My children’s living room is quite colourful, inviting and playful. It’s a space that’s not designed for a too young age group, nor too old. I have created enough space for friends when they visit, separate study area and the furniture is easily movable for movie nights and sleepovers!
I started with a basic new and inexpensive lounge suite from Super Amart. I purchased a 3 seater, 2 seater & ottoman for $999.00! Now that is a bargain. I didn’t want to invest a lot, as I want to change the suite regularly as trends change and at that price, it’s justifiable. Also, children do have accidents, spilages, pen leakages, etc etc.
A trip to IKEA was required of course, here I purchased our Geo rug & Besta entertainment unit……the reasoning behind this unit…..the storage! Lots and lots of hidden storage. I can hide books, DVDs, anything that’s left laying around.
Most of the other items, like side tables & decorative accents are all bargain finds from Kmart Australia and some independent stores. It pays to continually check at places like kmart for new trending items that hit the store, because when they do, they fly off the shelves.
